Weather In the Philippines in June

Get out those thinking caps, as the weather in June in the Philippines requires you to pick and choose which destination you want to visit. This is when the monsoon season gradually makes its presence felt all over the country, beginning in the North and making its way to the South as the month goes on. Unless you’re visiting for certain experiences, we don’t really recommend travelling in the wet months (from June to September/mid-October). However, there are areas in the Visayas region that are relatively drier during June. Rest assured you can still do quite a lot of things during your time here. This article on the weather in the Philippines in June is bound to help you decide for yourself.

Weather in Luzon in June

In Luzon, the heat isn’t as intense as in March, April and May. In fact, it’s much more pleasant, with monsoon winds blowing. The frequent rainfalls provide some much-needed relief from the heat. We strongly advise against hiking during the monsoon; although it’s pleasant, there are many risks involved. However, if the weather permits, there’s no harm in indulging in day-long hikes. The sky is cloudy more than 50% of the time during the day in Manila. It’s going to be slightly disappointing for those who love the heat and sun. But June is a great time to visit the rice terraces in Banaue and Batad, that are gorgeous shades of green right after the planting season. Don’t forget to take some rain jackets though!

The temperatures are a lot cooler in the hilly regions like Baugio and Sagada, but the roads leading to these towns can be tricky to traverse. We highly recommend finding a reliable source for transport when travelling to the Philippines in June. Or simply contact us to let us help you with these bookings. It’s pretty nippy at night so don’t forget some warm clothes. We wouldn’t recommend diving around Luzon during the wet months. Subic Bay and Anilao are great diving spots in the drier months but avoid them during the rains. There’s a lot of risk to factor in like unexpected weather, currents and high winds.

Weather in Visayas in June

The weather in some places of the Visayas is fairly good for those travelling to the Philippines in June. It is much drier than other regions and there are fewer tourists as compared to the peak season (March and April). The water temperatures are slightly cooler and the visibility is great too. Places like Malapascua, Dumaguete and Moalboal are wonderful to visit and have some memorable dives.

Tourist hot-spots like El Nido, Coron, and Boracay have very unpredictable weather. A sudden thunderstorm can interrupt dry days. There could be a few showers and storms or even good sunny weather. However it’s not very likely that the rain will interrupt your travel plans.

In all honesty, it also depends on what you want out of your trip. If you’re in for sunny days and beach breaks every day, then it isn’t the best time to visit. However, the scenery is breathtaking in any weather. Against the grey of rain clouds, it looks very moody and mysterious. People say that you’re only sure of the weather when you look out of the window but again, a bit of rain is unlikely to harm you anyway.

Mindanao in June

Starting from the top, it’s very hot in Camiguin Island but it stays cloudy for most days. There is some sunshine but there are frequent showers and thunderstorms too. But, travelling to the Philippines in June means you can’t fully appreciate the beauty Camiguin has to offer. When it comes to Siargao, it depends on why you’re visiting. It’s not the best time to relax, but June is the beginning of the perfect season to go surfing. The waves swell up and the winds start picking up too. But there’s no guarantee of the weather, the days can be sunny, cloudy or humid, with very frequent showers towards the end of June. Davao is met with frequent showers too and they just keep rising in intensity towards the end of the month.
