Getting from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by Mini-Van

Minivans are basically 8-seater mini buses that run between the two cities. The minivan fares are similar to those of buses. However, they decrease the duration of travel significantly as they take fewer rest stops. Additionally, there won’t be an English speaking guide accompanying you. The drivers may seem like they are driving rashly but they know what they are doing and are friendly folk. Asian traffic just needs a little getting used to.

These services even run overnight. However, we recommend that you do not opt for the overnight trips. The drivers are overworked and may not be at their sharpest when driving at night. Best to travel during the day.

Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by Car

One of the best options to travel between the two cities is to opt for a private car. The fare is higher; however, the drive is very scenic and comfortable. We recommend hiring a guide when you book your car as the drivers speak little to no English. The guides know the best restaurants to halt at, and they also know the countryside inside out. So, you can halt at scenic locations you find on the way, like one of the many beautiful lakes or hamlets. Traveling by car ideally means that you travel at your own leisure.
