Most nationalities can avail visa on arrival at all international airports. It can also be obtained at land border crossings in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. Visa on arrival is issued for stays up to 30 days, single entry only. A one month extension is however, possible.

Required Documents For Visa On Arrival

A few documents that are not absolutely required but we recommend you have them on you, include:

Note that there is no option of Visa on Arrival in Thailand when travelling by road from Cambodia. However, if a visa is already acquired or not required (many nationalities are visa exempt!), the applicant can enter the border via the Aranyaprophet Checkpoint.
- A copy of credit card statements or bank statements that serves as a proof to survive the expenses in Cambodia. Or else, the applicant can have 500 USD cash as proof of ability to manage expenses for at least 15 days.
- A copy of the hotel accommodation
Obtaining a visa on arrival for Cambodia is an extremely easy and self understood process.
AIRPORT
A Cambodian visa on arrival can be acquired at either of the three international airports – Siem Reap, Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville. It would cost $30 and usually take upto 45 mins to an hour depending on the number of arrivals. In peak season (January. June,July, August), it could easily exceed an hour as well.
Process :
On arrival in Cambodia, you would need to apply for Visa on arrival. The procedure is fairly simple. On arrival, head to the “Visa on Arrival” area. Grab a copy of the application form. Fill all the details in the application form.
You will see two lines/counters. One to submit the documents and another to pick up the passport. Head to the first counter and submit the following :
- Completed Arrival-Departure card
- Completed application form
- 1 passport size photograph
- Completed customs form
- Passport
Go to the second line and wait till they call your name. You will then pay the visa fee and pick up your passport. Visa fee must be paid in USD.
Important: Make sure to bring $30 USD in cash (US dollars). The ATMs at the Visa on Arrival often timeout and there are no currency exchanges.
LAND BORDER CROSSING
Cambodia has an approximate of 12 international land border crossings. The most common are Aranya Pratet/Poipet from Thailand to Cambodia, Moc Bai/ Bavet from Vietnam to Cambodia and Trapeang Kriel/Nong Nok Khiene from Laos to Cambodia. You can get visas on arrival at all of them, just right after exiting the former country and it’s the same procedure as on the airports.
Another way offered by bus and private transport companies on the way from Thailand to Cambodia is to get a visa at the consulate located close to the border.
This simply involves filling out a form on the way to the border, paying the required fee and submitting your passport to the guide on board, which is then taken to the consulate. The procedure usually doesn’t take too long, but then again it solely depends on the number of passengers.
Post this, you exit the country and make your way through Cambodian immigration without having to apply for a visa on arrival. After having your passport stamped and your departure card attached to your passport, you officially enter Cambodia. Doing this without a guide is not something we’d recommend, as the language barrier will make things quite complicated at the consulate. If you are crossing the border on your own, simply opt for the visa on arrival.
The staff at the airport immigration counters is friendly. However, queues might be long.
