Weather in the Philippines in July

The weather in the Philippines in July is on the damper side, as the volume of rainfall increases throughout the country. The southwest monsoon winds known as the “habagat” get stronger by the day, and most places experience heavy rainfall.

However, July definitely falls in the off-season for tourists so you can expect hotels and hostels at lower prices. Everything you need to know is mentioned in this blog, and gives you overall inforamtion about the weather in the Philippines in July.

There is significant rainfall throughout the month of July in Luzon. The Capital Manila is humid on most days and the weather is very unpredictable. You can expect occasional sunny days, but they might end with thunderstorms and rain.

Temperature-wise it’s definitely cooler, providing some much-needed relief after the intense summer heat. Again, just like we had mentioned for the month of June, we don’t recommend indulging in treks that last more than two days. Day-long treks, like Mt. Pinatubo, are good to undertake, with rain boots and good clothing in tow.

But, keep an eye on the weather and take appropriate measures in case the skies turn dark. It is also possible to visit hilly regions such as Baugio and Sagada. However, landslides can block the narrow roads and cause delays. The Banaue Rice terraces are wonderful in July, with the fields looking refreshingly green.

Want to go diving when travelling to the Philippines in July? Diving in Subic Bay and Anilao during July is unpredictable and unadvisable. We recommend heading to the Visayas region instead as it is a safer bet. Palawan, Cebu, Bohol and Malapascua are some of the other places where you can experience diving in this month. However, since there are frequent thunderstorms and typhoons, you might need a few extra days to ensure rains don’t hamper your diving plans.

Luzon experiences rainfall throughout the month of July, however, the Banaue Rice terraces are worth a visit during this month as the fields are lush green.

There’s a silver lining to the rain clouds of the weather in the Philippines in July- Visayas. It is one of the best places to visit in the Philippines in this month. It’s still off-season when it comes to tourism but when you compare it to the rest of the country that is soaked in rain, it’s much drier and easier to go from one place to another. While it does rain in July, it’s not as intense compared to the region of Luzon, and won’t disrupt your plans.

In July, places like Bohol, Cebu, Oslob, Malapascua, Dumaguete are good to visit. The days are often sunny in these places and they are only occasionally interrupted by light and short showers. 

Hotel rates and dive resorts will be cheaper than usual and you can definitely make the most out of diving here too. But, the visibility in the waters may not be as clear as it is during April or May. Basically, when travelling to the Philippines in July, the Visayas is your best bet.

The Visayas are much drier compared to the rest of the country, making it the best region to be explored if you are planning to visit the Philippines in July.

WEATHER IN PALAWAN IN JULY

Palawan is a paradise that is fortunately almost an all-year-round destination. Like the Central Visayas region, it does get continuous rainfall and showers in July, but they are sporadic and intermittent.Unless your luck is extremely bad you will get a few days to bask in the sun on one of the many magnificent beaches in El Nido, Coron and Balabac.

Since it is off-season you would get better deals at the resorts and their won’t be too many tourists, so you might find a beach all to yourself. You could also go diving and snorkelling, but do bear in mind that the seas might be choppy and a little harder to swim in.

In Palawan you might get lucky and enjoy a few sunny days at the beaches and in the water in July.

weather in Mindanao in July

The weather is generally good in Siargao, with occasional late afternoon showers and sometimes a downpour during the night. Mindanao experiences warm and humid weather. The city of Davao experiences humidity and occasional rainfall, alongside a few thunderstorms. The temperatures range from 22° to 31°C (72° to 88°F).

The weather in Siargao in July also remains fairly similar to that of Davao, so expect high temperatures throughout the month. Siargao also experiences fairly heavy rainfall, which might not be ideal for most travellers to visit the region in July. While it might not happen very often, the rainfall might interrupt your plans and bring a halt to certain activities. This is the biggest worry when travelling to the Philippines in July.

The city of Davao is beautiful and worth exploring, provided you don’t mind occasional rainfall and high temperatures.

The weather in the Philippines can get confusing. It can still be hot and sunny during the monsoon, and occasional light showers are normal during summers. July is an overall hot and humid month, with temperatures settling at the higher 20’s or mid 30’s. If you would like to undertake a trip to the Philippines in July, Palawan, Bohol and the Visayas islands are good options to visit. Stick to flying in and out of Cebu, and avoiding Manila and the rest of Luzon.
